Founded by two Googlers, we are a young startup that is in the Techstars Seattle cohort and a team working remotely from around the US, UK and China.

What You’ll Be Doing:
You will need to be able to work as part of a small team to architect, build and maintain features and fixes for our app Storey using React Native iOS / Android. Needless to say, code must be clean and maintainable - written using React Hooks and Functional Components. As an Experienced Mobile Frontend Engineer you will also be expected to implement pixel perfect UIs that match designs, including clean, modern, smooth animations and transitions that provide an excellent user experience. From time to time, you will also be expected to integrate third-party APIs and also to integrate with our own Storey Backend - so a strong sense of how to handle errors and exceptions elegantly is needed.
As a startup - sprints are organised in Jira and are roughly weekly - but you must be flexible and be responsible in reacting to user needs and balance among the many unknown situations that arise in startups. We value code that is written ‘good enough to ship’ to enable fast iteration while still being clean, simple and maintainable versus ‘perfectly written and fully abstracted’ which currently would not be the best strategy as many things still need to be experimented with.
Requirements:
4+ years of professional experience working with React Native within a company setting, including XCode and native development with ObjC, Swift, and general iOS/XCode build experience.
Meaningful experience working on polished UI/UX systems, with clear evidence of implementing designs and animations to a working released product and with extreme attention to detail.
Ability to take extreme ownership over your work. Every day is a challenge to ensure you are performing to the expectations you and your team have agreed upon, both in regards to estimates and to the general process.
Experience in startups or being comfortable with ambiguous situations and having the tenacity and good humour and will to work through them is a must. This includes being in the right mindset to work in an early startup environment and understanding the pressures of producing the right results quickly is better than the perfect result that may not even be used.
A passion for software development. You’re constantly striving to learn new things and improve. You follow industry news, regularly tinker with new technologies, and read books and blogs to keep your skills current.
